A land measuring 3750 square yards (125x270) was allotted to Indian Red Cross Society, U.T., Branch Chandigarh at Sector 15-D, Chandigarh (adjacent to Community Centre Building) by the Estate Office, Chandigarh. Since Indian Red Cross Society, U.T. Branch, Chandigarh is one of the oldest social organizations in the country providing succour to people in distress for decades and continues to uphold the cause of good health for all through its activities, the various welfare programmes are organized by IRCS for the upliftment of poor and welfare of public in general and as such the IRCS is going to construct Disabled Friendly Rehabilitation Advocacy Centre which will be focus on Mentally Challenged, Physically Challenged Rehabilitation Centre & Advocacy Centre and a full-fledged Eye Rehabilitation Centre. The 3 storey building is proposed to be constructed at proposed location in Sector 15, Chandigarh. The required funds are proposed to be arranged through Corporate Social Responsibility. The Indian Oil Corporation Limited has come forward towards this noble cause in helping Red Cross to construct building under CSR. The estimated cost of around 5 Crore has been worked out for the construction of “Red Cross Indian Oil Health & Rehabilitation Advocacy Centre” in Sector 15, Chandigarh which will be borne by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited under CSR Scheme.
