DR. AMBEDKAR SCHOOL ON WHEELS

H.E. Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh flagged-off the School on Wheels on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2018 at Ram Darbar, Phase 2, Chandigarh. The main aim of the project is to educate children live and work on the streets because their parents are poor or they are orphans or they run away from home and many a times have been forced to do that. They are invariably malnourished, receive no education or medical treatment and are forced into child labour or begging at an early age. One Red Cross Vehicle has been modified as School of Wheels which has been fabricated with the cost of Rs.1,95,290/-. The team of a teacher and a helper visit different prescribed sites/slums and construction sites where these children are either begging or involved in other illegal activities covering Mauli Jagran (Monday), Daddu Majra (Tuesday), Dhanas Near Rehabilitation Colony (Wednesday), Ram Darbar Near Community Centre (Thursday), Colony No.4 near Mandi (Friday), Sector 34 Light Point (Saturday). As on date total 108 such students have been enrolled for education through this project.
